Overview

Located in the heart of Paris’s 7th arrondissement, NAKATANI RESTAURANT is a fine dining establishment where French precision meets subtle Japanese influences. Nestled at 27 Rue Pierre Leroux, this intimate venue offers a refined yet understated atmosphere, perfectly suited for couples or small groups seeking a culinary journey that balances tradition with innovation.

The menu is a carefully curated tasting experience, led by the chef’s personal vision. Highlights such as 野菜のコンソメ (vegetable consommé), Pétoncles Caviar (scallops with caviar), and the rare Bœuf Kobe showcase a remarkable harmony between delicate flavors and bold ingredients. The inclusion of Japanese elements like カツオ (skipjack tuna) and 菊芋 (Jerusalem artichoke) in a predominantly French style illustrates the chef’s skill in blending two culinary worlds seamlessly.

Diners can expect dishes that are not only visually striking but also thoughtfully balanced. The chef’s dedication to quality is evident in the use of premium ingredients like Kagoshima Wagyu beef and house-made bread, elevating the overall tasting menu into a memorable experience.

The space itself is simple yet elegant, providing a discreet and calm setting where the focus remains on the food and conviviality. With a limited number of tables, the ambiance encourages personal attention from both the chef and staff, who are known for their warm hospitality and subtle but attentive service.

While some guests may find the English-speaking service modest, the overall dedication to the dining experience compensates for this. The restaurant’s appeal is strongest among patrons who appreciate refined flavors, culinary creativity, and the intimacy of a private kitchen setting.

Whether you come for a special occasion or a thoughtful lunch, NAKATANI RESTAURANT promises a journey beyond mere sustenance — it is an encounter with artistry where each course invites you to savor the delicate interplay of French technique and Japanese finesse.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Nakatani. The 6 course meal was unique, delicious, and memorable. The dining room is simple yet refined and intimate. We had a large party of 8 but the chef and server were very accommodating. From course to course the dishes were beautifully prepared and the flavors exceeded our expectations.

The food is really not amazing. Not a single dish was really good. I respect the creativity but good should be delicious not just creative. Service is ok but I would expect much better English in such a restaurant. Atmosphere - we came to celebrate my wife's birthday, we were sitted on the opposite sides of a round table. Considering the expectation of a michelin star and the price, it was a dissapointment.

#23 cf MichelinStarsChallenge list A very French Japanese chef Amongst the Japanese chef with a star that we have in Paris, he is one more of the French side. And yet, the name he decided to put on his restaurant could not be more Japanese (it’s his name). That’s interesting because the competition (and there’s a lot of Japanese with a star) are using French name with a more exotic cuisine. So it’s French cuisine with a perfect execution and some personal notes from the chef (very elegant, so little touches, etc..). You ll have a great meal. Also I do appreciate when the chef makes an effort to say goodbye (or come to the tables etc…) it’s a nice touch and not everyone does that. Great for couples. Possible for business lunch and friends. Well deserved star. You’ll have an experience. The mood: I’ll go for a discreet but classy style (Paul Neuman). It’s ok to wear a costume but you don’t have to. Personally I do enjoy, so I d wear a “casual” one. Edit: I went back after a year. I recommend to try the Wagyu as only few have it. It is definitely a well deserved star. I thought it was more in between France and Japan this time. Especially with the “terre/mer” with foie gras. Note that it has only 4 tables.

Came here for lunch, which was a delightful experience. All the courses were beautifully prepared and very tasty. The restaurant can be easy to miss when passing on the street, but definitely a must visit if you get the chance. Highly recommend

Despite it is quite expensive, yet the food quality deserves the price! This is a private kitchen where the chef decides the menu for you! Well, it is goox to have a try!!
